LiUNA Endorses Rob Menendez for Re-Election to Congress in 2024

Today, the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) endorsed Rob Menendez for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024. LiUNA represents more than 20,000 unionized workers in New Jersey.

“We need leaders in Washington who understand the kitchen table issues affecting working families,” said LiUNA Vice President and Eastern Regional Manager Mike Hellstrom. “We need Rob Menendez in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rob has been deeply involved in issues of importance to our union and its members. He has also been quick to pick up the phone and seek our input on how national policies will affect things locally. While DC may be known for its dysfunction, it also has pragmatic and principled leaders like Rob Menendez who is working hard to get things done for his constituents and his nation.”

“I am honored to be supported for re-election by the hard-working men and women of LiUNA, who continue to enable so many of the transformational projects in our regional infrastructure,” said Congressman Rob Menendez. “Since taking office, our efforts have secured over $11 billion in federal funding for our district for priorities like the Gateway Project and the Northeast Corridor, which will create tens of thousands of good-paying union opportunities while modernizing our critical infrastructure. I am proud to be a champion for our unions and will always stand with our brothers and sisters in organized labor in the fight for fair wages and workplace protections. We will continue to co-sponsor and introduce legislation that uplifts all our residents such as the PRO Act and the Working Families Task Force Act, fight for comprehensive immigration reform, support work permits, and protect DACA from whoever may seek to denigrate it and all those who contribute so much to our society.”

LiUNA members will be very active in the 8th District campaign – participating in member-to-member outreach, labor walks, voter registration drives, and get out the vote activities.
